Privacy

Your photos stay on your Mac. RAWdemption has no account and no cloud, and it never uploads photos, file names, folder paths, locations, camera details or edits. It talks to the internet for two small things, both described below, and both can be turned off. If you connect Patreon to unlock your full profile, it also renews that connection now and then, as described under Patreon.
Update checks
Each time it opens, and every hour while it stays open, RAWdemption downloads a short list of available versions from this website. Like any web request, it reveals your IP address and the RAWdemption version to the website's host. Turn this off in RAWdemption › Settings › Check for updates automatically; RAWdemption › Check for Updates… still checks when you ask.
Anonymous usage counts
To know whether anyone uses RAWdemption, and which macOS versions matter, it sends two kinds of anonymous signal to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in the EU:
- “Launched”, when RAWdemption opens.
- “Exported”, when an export finishes, with the number of photos it contained.
Each signal carries the RAWdemption version and build, the macOS version, and a random identifier created when RAWdemption is first opened. The identifier is hashed on your Mac before it is sent and hashed again by TelemetryDeck, so it counts installations without identifying anyone. TelemetryDeck doesn't store IP addresses. Nothing else is sent: no photos, names, paths, settings or edit details.
Turn this off in RAWdemption › Settings › Share anonymous usage counts. Nothing is sent afterwards.
Patreon, if you connect it
The full profile is a thank-you for supporters on Patreon. If you choose Unlock with Patreon, your browser opens Patreon's own page, which asks you to let RAWdemption see your name and your memberships. Patreon then gives rawdemption.com a one-time code, and rawdemption.com asks Patreon only whether you're an active supporter of RAWdemption. Your Patreon password and payment details never reach RAWdemption.
Your Mac keeps the Patreon sign-in it was given and a signed pass saying until when you're a supporter. The pass is tied to your Mac by a one-way fingerprint of its hardware identifier, so it works only there. About twice a day while RAWdemption is open, and when you open your profile, the app sends that sign-in and fingerprint to rawdemption.com to renew the pass. rawdemption.com keeps none of it: it asks Patreon, answers and forgets. Nothing about your photos is ever included.
To stop, choose Disconnect in RAWdemption › Settings, and remove RAWdemption from the connected apps in your Patreon settings.
Problem reports
Help › Report a Problem… opens a new email in your own mail app with the RAWdemption version, macOS version and Mac model filled in. Nothing is sent until you send it yourself, and you can remove anything you'd rather not share. Crash reports are only shared if you attach one.
Your edits and settings
Edits and favourites are saved in hidden .lightbox folders beside your photos. Settings, including the name and icon you choose when you first open RAWdemption, live in ~/Library/Preferences/app.rawdemption.mac.plist, and thumbnails and previews in ~/Library/Caches/RAWdemption. None of it leaves your Mac.
